Mozilla Hyderabad Board Meeting for MozDeccan @ Collab House

A 2 day event completely focused on mozilla contribution and networking with different type of contributors from different places , towns and cities all over Telangana & Andhra Pradesh.

Moz Deccan is our annual event to collaborate in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh region with the clear ambition to unite our efforts to build a better community, Since last year, we have grown tremendously and had some very successful and productive events for almost all Mozilla Projects.As education hub we still have lots of opportunities to grow ourselves and to find good sustainable contributors.

we are basically planning to try present annual Statistics of the event , find the drawbacks and try to fix them where we are lagging with these kinds of events ans like such events We can Empower Our Local Communities with lots of new energy and new people.

Guest Lecture on Mozilla Webmaker and Teach the Web @Aurora's Technological and Research Institue[my college :D]

Firstly I would like to thank all the 219 participants who turned-up to the event on a very big day, i.e India Vs Australia and it is a semi-finals. This credit purely goes to the event organizers which shows they are  good at promotions and dedication.

As in every documentation in this blog, I tried to keep the content simple to read and I follow-up the same here.

As we got lot to cover, I straightly started of by telling them "Who is Mozilla?" and later with mission of Mozilla. Very Soon later, I started of  with Teach the Web activity and showed all the basic tags and functionality of the web by using HTML tags and after intro HTML, now I showed them- how to add colors/design to the webpages by using CSS.

We took two query sessions in between the Teach the Web activity which had good response and was Happy to see many asking there questions.

Later, I went on to Webmaker tools and showed them all 4 tools functionality. As usual we get a great respond for X-ray Goggles and Appmaker but at my college people like Thimble more then others. Later, I share my story with participants- How did I start of my contributions in Mozilla and etc and then I told the areas of contributions to Mozilla.

FSA Meetup and Makathon @ Collab House

Hi everyone, firstly I would like to thank you for sparing your time to read this article about the Event. I know it was a big day for us, after a fresh year this is an second FSA Event happened at Hyderabad and now without wasting anytime, now lets look into things happened on 22nd March 2015.

Let me try to keep it as simple as possible, so that it will be easy to read and time saving for you.

Agenda:
  1. Introduction about themselves and there success stories of contributions in any fields.
  2. Community Building Activity - Dyvik, U.M.K. Dikshit & Deepak
  3. Icebreaker Challenges -  Akshay
  4. What is Mozilla and Areas of Contributions in Mozilla in detail - Harsha & Dayal
  5. Break - Drinks & Snacks 
  6. Makathon, dealing with  Webmaker and it's tools - Sai Charan [Me ;)] & query clarifications -  Akhilesh.
  7. Ending Key-Note - Vineel Reddy Pindi
The Event which was well directed by Harsha and were we got around 25 new Firefox Student Ambassadors to the event which was inspiring to us as well as the new FSA's. We  kick-started our Event with introduction about ourselves and our success stories to get to know each other. Before this happen, Dyivk, U.M.K. Dikshit and Deepak had a good community building session with new FSA's and themselves to know how can we improvise the program to take it to next level in our community. Soon later, Harsha and Ram started off with the main part of the agenda by telling them who is Mozilla and what is it doing for us and many more stuff to the new FSA's and even telling them how the new FSA's can start there contributions to Mozilla by choosing some areas available.

Then we took a short break for networking and to have refreshments!!!!

After the break, Sai Charan [Me] dealed with Webmaker Project, which is second main in the Agenda which is named as Makeathon. I dealed with all the 4 tools  which went in a Hands- On - Session pattern  by clarifying there queries practically in there laptops personally and Thanks to Akhilesh who helped me in query clarification. Soon Later, Vineel Reddy Pindi ended the session leaving some motivational points to the new FSA's which made them inspire to contribute to Mozilla.

Mozilla Workshop & Hackathon at C.M.R Institute of Technology

It was a good sunshine morning, were everyone packed our bags and swag for the event which if 40 k.m from our places. We took a cab and all set to go with Mozilla T-shirts, wearing them with proud.

Lets keep things simple about what we have done the whole day and the Agenda:

Morning Session Agenda:
  • What is Open Source and examples
  • Who is Mozilla 
  • How can common people contribute to Mozilla
  • Webmaker
  • Firefox OS Application Development
  • Talk and Ice-Breaker Challenge on Privacy
After lamp lighting, the organizers have introduce the speakers to the audience and later it was time for me[Sai Charan Reddy] to Deal with the first three task in Agenda[which is shown above] and which went on till 30 min and later our next Mozillian i.e Achyuth- Dealed with Webmaker tools and this went on till 45 min and 15 min of general discussions on How you can implement these tools in real life. Soon later, Harsha- dealed with Firefox Os application development from Scratch and which went around 45 min who showed a small Demo application which was build during the event. Later Kalyan took a very good session on Privacy and which went around 30 min. Very soon later, Organizers called for a lunch break and announced the rules for Hackathon and what they must build the reaming half day.

  • Winner Announcement
Very soon later, after a good lunch!!! We felt participants may be sleepy, so to boost them Harsha showed them how to make games using Construct2 and later deploy on Firefox OS Market Place. Hackathon went on upto 4 hours and soon later we reviewed there applications and selected the winner, we gave them good Swag!!!

Mozilla Webmaker & Firefox OS App Development: Hands On Session @ G.Narayanamma Institute Of Technology

At Mozilla, we do our best by empowering our local communities and teaching others who are interested to know what we are doing!!! We planned to motivate womens to join Mozilla and contribute with there own path-ways to Mozilla.

This Event was fully concentrated on theme, which we can say people do parallel work when it was taught and queries are clarified then itself. This event was totally to make people Web Literates and Teach people to develop Firefox OS Applications.

Lets keep it simple:

Morning Session: 
 Firstly Thanks to Vineel Reddy for showing up to the event after his sleepless night at Collab House. Vineel started of the event with Introduction to Mozilla and Mission, projects, how to get involved and empowering women's in Mozilla. Soon later it was Akhilesh and Akshay who spoke about what an Open Source is actually, Areas of Contributions in Mozilla and about Firefox Student Ambassador Program. Then was Firefox OS Game Development using Contruct2 which was wonderfully demonstrated by Harsha.

Afternoon Session:

After having good lunch, it was my turn to take up the session. Before that we showed videos of Mozilla and later started-of with intro to " HTML5 " and later " Webmaker " tools. Later Achyuth gave an detailed information about areas of contributions and mainly he concentrated on Bugzilla. After that Harsha, took session on "How to Develop Firefox OS Applications from scratch". Soon later we ended the day with few icebreaker challenges and Group Picture with the Organizers.

Firefox Student Ambassadors- Meet 0.1

At Mozilla, we empower our local communities by teaching them what we do and what can be done by every individual in Mozilla.

To motivate Firefox Student Ambassadors at local community, we planned FSA- Meet up 0.1.

Lets keep this simple:

The meet-up has started at sharp [really sharp ;)] 2.00 p.m and went on up to 5.00 p.m. This time we got many Women FSA have turned up for the meet-up, and few Mozillians. Many more FSA events are yet to come in our Community from Hyderabad.

Schedule:

1) Welcoming Keynote for new FSA's about Mozilla and it's mission.
2) Introduction of New and Old FSA's and there area of contribution.
3) Planning for up-coming events.
4) Drinks Break
5) Areas of Contribution for New FSA's.
6) Problems in Local Community.

Mozilla Workshop & Hackathon At JNTU-Kakinada

It was a dream to give a talk in Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, were many colleges are associated with[including my college]. We traveled around 1000+ K.M [To the Event and From the Event] but we were all ready and energetic for the Big Event named Mozilla Workshop and Hackathon which was divided perfectly as day1 would be workshop on Mozilla and later Day2 was hackathon.

Ill try to keep all it simple and easy to refer :)


Day 1 :  Pleasant Morning Sunshine, people were slowly gathered in the Hall by the time we reach. We sticked to our plan and schedule to be done for the day. Everything went well and the crowd was very interactive with questions. We wrapped-up the day1 with rules and requirements for Hackathon on Day2.

  • Benefits of Contributions? Areas of Contributions?
  • Privacy on Web and Web RTC

  • Introduction to HTML and CSS

  • Game Development for Firefox OS using Construct2

Day 2: The people are gathering the hall with there laptops and to start of building many wonderful applications for Firefox OS which may be useful to others. Later hours the hackathon was getting into peak level and people were nervous and started off with lots of queries about building there apps [finally it looked like personal hands-on- sessions] but was fun to learn new logic's while building them. Soon after few hours from lunch, people are getting ready to show-off there applications to public . After Demo session we have given Ending Key notes with a wonderful Mozilla Video.
